Chopper crashes in Sibu after ferrying DPM’s entourage

SIBU, April 11 — A helicopter crashed in the town square here at 2pm minutes after Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin had arrived at the same location to attend a function in a nearby hotel.

City police chief Shafie Ismail said that the pilot was severely injured and had been rushed to the hospital.
Shafie said there was no one else in the helicopter.

The helicopter, one of three transporting the deputy prime minister’s entourage, crashed when lifting off to return to Sibu airport.

It is learnt that Muhyiddin had arrived in another helicopter at the same place, just a few minutes before the crash.
